Frequently Asked Questions

All collections, flashcard text, sort orders, and audio links live in a local SQLite database directly on your device. Audio recordings and images are saved in the app's local document directory. No data is ever transmitted to remote cloud databases.

No. You can create decks, study with 3D swipe gestures, record audio, and review cards fully offline without logging into an account.

Yes. With file sharing enabled, you can open the native iOS Files app and browse to On My iPhone > FlashCardFlipper > Audio to view, organize, or add recordings directly.

Inside any card's edit view (in both list mode and the Study Mode edit dialog), tap the Study: On / Study: Off toggle button located beside the circular flip button.

Turning a card off keeps it saved in your deck but removes it from active study sessions. Disabled cards appear dimmed in the deck list and are automatically excluded from the Study count.

Tap the circular ⇅ button between the Front and Back fields in the edit area. Text, images, and audio tracks swap positions instantly.

Tap the ⇅ Reorder button in the collection header. You can use the step buttons to move cards up or down, or tap the position badge (e.g., #4 Move) to enter an exact position number.

Both Front and Back fields support up to 200 characters each to encourage concise recall cues rather than dense text.

Tapping ● Record immediately launches the microphone recorder and starts recording in real-time. When finished, tap Stop to review your recording and tap ✓ Save Audio.

• Vertical Swipe (Up/Down): Flips the card in 3D perspective to reveal the answer side.
• Horizontal Swipe (Left/Right): Glides to the previous or next flashcard.

Yes. The app defaults to ordered study. You can switch between ⇄ Shuffle and → Order directly from the bottom bar of any deck, or set your global default in Settings > Default Study Mode. Your chosen mode is saved across sessions.

When enabled in Settings, the app automatically plays the attached audio clip whenever you advance to a card or flip to its reverse side.

Yes. Tap the ✎ Edit button in the top right corner of Study Mode to modify text, re-record audio, toggle study availability, or delete the card without leaving study mode.

Package your CSV spreadsheet and your audio files into a standard .zip archive. Tap ↑ Upload inside a deck or Import Data in Settings, and choose the ZIP file.

The app automatically extracts the audio into your device storage and links each sound file to its corresponding card using the ID column.

For the best experience, name files using a 3-digit sequential index and keyword, formatted as <ID>_front.[ext] and <ID>_back.[ext].

In your CSV, set the id column to match the prefix (e.g., 001_apple). The 3-digit prefix keeps your tracks organized in counting order inside the iOS Files app, while the keyword makes manual browsing easy. Supported formats include .mp3, .m4a, .wav, .aac, .caf, and .aiff.

Open Settings and tap Export All Decks (Backup) to create a master CSV backup file of your decks, descriptions, and text cards.

Go to Settings > Erase All Data. This permanently removes all collections, cards, database records, and attached audio files from local storage.
